I read the book to my reception class as we had just visited Duxford Air Museum. It takes you to the airport terminal to all the way on how to the plane works.
As it stands, I would still recommend it, but I would suggest that the parents print out an additional visual page explaining pre-flight situations.parents reading with younger children, especially before a flightThis is an entertaining story that helps to teach children about what to expect when going on a commercial flight. The book is also a brilliant introduction to rhyming literature as it is set out as a long poem and this could certainly be used as a template for older children to begin their own work.
This book is all about planes. I'd title this "pretty interesting Airplanes."

Our 2 1/2 year old loves planes and loves reading this book, especially on and after his recent plane trip, where he remembers the things he did himself. May 1st 2005 It even has a nice explanation in the back about ears popping and tummies getting upset. She was so familiar with the idea of the noisy airplane ride (as well as the airport - we read another book about that) that I think it added to her thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Similar to Byron Barton's book, "Airport," with the description of the plane and the process of going on a flight. My son’s favorite book. Plus, there's a built in learning extension at the back where the kids can learn about "ear pressure", "vortices", "flaps" and "thrusts". Mason, Cassie, and I are reading books based on the letters of the alphabet each week. The back of the book has a longer, more elaborate list of details about parts of the plane, sounds on the plane, and even feelings you may experience when flying.

The cover is hardback but the inside pages are paper. Last week was our A week. She was completely prepared for the journey, right down to the aspect of getting off the final plane and driving to great-Grandma's house late at night (something I kind of added by adapting the last pages of the book).
