"When we asked Brenda if she knew much about Ms McVey's voting record or support for painful benefit policies, she said: "I don't really no. "She's not done any wrong here. That's the only contact I've had with her, so I couldn't comment on what she's like. Less than an hour's drive from Liverpool, Tatton is a world away from the place she grew upOne Conservative candidate who held her northern seat with a huge majority of nearly 18,000 votes was But how has her style of politics has won favour among voters elsewhere - in True-Blue Tatton, the seat she inherited from former Chancellor George Osborne, and where she has a majority of more than 17,000.It's only a short distance away from Merseyside, but Ms McVey's popularity in such a nearby constituency highlights just how divided our country is over major issues.We spent a morning in Knutsford, a Cheshire town in the Tatton parliamentary constituency, to understand why people voted for her - and what they think of some of the controversial policies she has championed.Parking up in the sleepy town centre, you're met by Barbour jackets, quaint country pubs and a mini Waitrose in the middle of the high street.It's clear this is a well-heeled area where people have money to spend.In the time we spend walking around the town, we lose count of the number of luxury 4x4s which mount the pavements as their drivers jump out walking designer dogs.Speaking to voters in the town centre, it quickly becomes apparent that most people aren't aware of Ms McVey's controversial comments or her work at the DWP.In fact, we struggled to find a single person who could tell us anything about her record of actions towards the vulnerable and needy.One of the first people we spoke to was Emily, who had run to the Cranford Cafe and Sandwich Bar to pick up her lunch.
