That said I went for the 8th gen and it’s the best notebook I ever had, and the tablet functionality is great for going in to meetings and such.I wanted to avoid getting a separate laptop and tablet. I don't mind a little trade off on either the laptop end or the tab end compared to their respective genre but genuinely want to avoid buying 2 separate things.
I hate the laptops in which the screen folds all the way leaving the keyboard at the back. In tech the new thing is always around the corner, so if you decide to sit waiting for that, you will never end up buying anything.That is true, but I mean, if the release of the SB3 means a cheaper SB2, or an SB3 with a better dGPU and thunderbolt 3, it wouldn't go amiss.The main question I ask myself is...what would the SB3 offer that would make it a worthy upgrade over an SB2? Also because the resolution isn’t a standard size it can also look a bit weird.

It all depends on your use-case, of course - if the more processor-intensive functionalities aren't as important to you as the convertibility, then I'm sure the i5 will serve your needs just fine.Thanks. Might just do a go along with a separate laptop.I have. As much as I love the Surface book form factor, I just don't have the money for a brand new Gen 2 model. Yeah I don't see too many uses for the GPU versions. (Even light gaming).
The Surface Book 2 is the only device that fulfills these capabilities.

It's the only device I've ever owned that does everything: 1080p current gen gaming, video and sound editing, high level PSD projects, low latency drawing and note-taking, excellent portability, all-day battery life, and 2-in-one capabilities that are actually useful in collaborative professional settings. That actually helps knowing that the tablet experience isn't that great because that is exactly what I'm looking for and there aren't similar options out there.i7 13" here.
