Look for them near ledges and drop-offs as well as near underwater structure such as submerged logs. Summer steelhead and hatchery spring Chinook fisheries continue to wind down below Dexter Dam. Most trout can be found from Marion Forks down to the mouth and are fairly well distributed. Well, at least the species we can target. As water heats up this is a great place to target largemouth and spotted bass. Look for crappie along the weedy edges on the south side of the reservoir. During the summer and fall the North Fork is a good dry fly stream. An easy 40 minute drive from the shop the NF Santiam is a very nice small mountain river with both stocked and native trout.

In both the North and South Santiam, they are likely to be in the upper river sections such as between Mehama and Packsaddle Park on the North Santiam and above Waterloo County Park on the South Santiam. But this river offers convenience, fairly good access and variety. The closure of the road to the public will begin in March 2017 and continue through 2021. Henry Hagg is a 1,110-acre lake waterbody located seven miles southwest of Forest Grove. River levels best for fishing are at or below 3,000 cfs. Smallmouth bass also can be a lot of fun to catch and are plentiful between Salem and Corvallis.
