These are very different machines, with different CPU types and generations.Coming from an BMP13 ( i5/8gb 2018 model) I switched to SL3 (i7/16gb) the reasons for the switch were:3:2 aspect ratio monitor and the scaling flexability in Windows (the OSX one is more limited)no displayport daisychaining (I like my setups clean)the option to change the SSD to a 1tb without breaking bank.Now there are also things that I dont like regarding the SL3..battery/performance trade-off (power settings) in Windows is worse compared to the OSX implementation,just one USB-c port is another downside for me regarding all my peripherals are USB-C.no Thunderbolt (MS considers this a security feature, even though that is technically correct, the OSX implementation is safe)IF U R NOT AFRAID OF WINDOWS UPDATE GO FOR SURFACE.If you have the money go MacBook you can use it for a long time and macos updates wont break the laptop like in WindowsMacBooks stopped being more reliable years ago.

Compared to the Surface Pro 7, the Surface Laptop 3 gets you a larger screen and an attached keyboard.
