The Town’s prohibition on short term rentals will end on Friday, May 8. Town Council has decided to reopen public access to Pawleys Island beaches effective Friday, May 1st so long as the county goes forward with their decision to reopen public beaches on May 1st.
The Town’s beaches reopened today. The south end lot and First Street beach access reopened today.

As the Pawleys Island area reopens following shutdowns due to covid-19, restaurants are beginning to reopen their doors to customers. Georgetown County and the town of Pawleys Island have voted to reopen public beach accesses beginning at noon Friday. The new law, which is in effect beginning at midnight tonight, will be in place for 60 days. Governor McMaster announced that he is lifting additional restrictions, including allowing restaurants to resume some dine-in service starting at 12:01 on Monday, May 11. Boats must remain underway at all times unless critical circumstances or if boaters are anchoring to fish.

This order is a proactive action to prepare and respond to the ongoing and evolving health threat posed by COVID-19.Town Council held an emergency meeting this afternoon to revisit the prohibition on short term rentals after Georgetown County voted to allow the county-wide ban to expire April 30th. Stay safe and healthy!Governor McMaster has issued a stay at home order effective Tuesday, April 7th at 5 pm. The ban for short term rentals has been extended through May 14th. He also limited the number of people that could be in stores based on square footage.Governor McMaster announced the closure of stores selling furniture, clothing, shoes, and jewelry at 5 on Monday, April 6. Town Council has decided to reopen public access to Pawleys Island beaches effective Friday, May 1st so long as the county goes forward with their decision to reopen public beaches on May 1st. Long-term rentals of 30 days or more are still permitted. The Pawleys Island Police Department will be actively patrolling the beach to ensure all beach goers adhere to the current social distancing guidelines. They will hold another meeting on April 23rd to discuss this issue and make a decision. Visitors currently checked in may remain until the end of their existing reservations. The order goes into effect on Wednesday, April 1. Georgetown County Council passed a face mask ordinance. The ban for short term rentals has been extended through May 14th.
