I'd only buy a re-issue if it was remastered.
I picked it up at sub $10 so if a version with tangible benefits comes along, I would rebuy and trade in the original copy, like I plan on doing with T2.
Arnold Swarzenegger is as charismatic as ever as Military specialist Dutch who is in charge of tracking down whatever has killed the inhabitants of a jungle only to find that the threat is far worse than they expected in the form of The Predator, a creature of horiffic strength and advanced technology who hunts humans for sport. The first major explosion at the camp is a good example where the lower frequencies are greatly lacking. Trending deals on today's releases. Nothing special about it. This new Blu-ray comes with a video presentation that's shockingly worse than the first release, and the audio is the same as before.
So if they re-release it, I hope it comes with the special features since the BD is bare bones. It looks better, and the film grain also adds to the film's overall atmosphere. Rather, I like to think of it as part of the film's overall effect, where all the heavy firepower and strong presence of machismo clearly does nothing in combating a superior alien being.
My experience with this movie has always been grainy, flat, and dull.
The DTS-HD track is killer. To have a movie unexpectedly change into a thrilling cat and mouse game of human versus extraterrestrial was a bit of a shock to say the least. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote.
Predator stands the length of time and stands alongside films of the modern arena, like Alien, Jaws, The Odessa File & Around the World in Eighty Days (Pierce Brosnan version) as ones that I would include in a Top 20 list to have with me on a desert island. The moment it's over, the deception — both on Dutch as in the audience — commences, with tension that never lets up and a gory spectacle from an unseen assailant that stalks and kills his victims, one at a time. This is just a regular, plastic round-cornered blu-ray box, on the contrary to what the picture looks like. This review will show up on the "Ultimate Hunter's Edition" version of Predator on blu ray, because that's truly what this disc is, despite the "art" title. Please try again. In an early announcement to retailers, 20th Century Fox has announced 'Predator: Ultimate Hunter Edition' for Blu-ray to retail for $29.99. I hope you didn't pay too much for it. When that day finally comes — and hopefully, it will — we'll, of course, have yet another version of 'Predator.' The color depth looks as good if not better than modern movies. Arguably, one of the best action movies of all time. But I have to admit the original design doesn't really allow for a very immersive home-theater experience. With this being the case, 'Predator' should show heavy amounts of film grain, but it's not to be seen. Action from start to finish, top-notch cast and once seen never forgotten. Predator is a 1987 American science fiction action film directed by John McTiernan and written by brothers Jim and John Thomas. Sure, we're allowed some minor glimpses of the creature, but it's always from a distance so as to save the best for last. After watching it I have a new appreciation for how good the cinematograph of this film is. A combination of At first a seemingly brainless summer action flick, 'Predator' is a surprisingly well-structured movie which seamlessly and cleverly melds genre conventions. I've been waiting to buy Predator on BD because I want all the special features from the 2-disc set. The entire soundstage fills with good imaging and balanced separation between channels, feeling very open and wide.
