I'm not a huge fan of audio books, but when I saw the ad for a Sandman audiobook I HAD to give it a listen.

I love audio dramas and I loved most of Audible’s adaptation of This faithfulness is a double-edged sword, though. I’m not so sure that I agree with that. The Sandman is a comic book series written by Neil Gaiman and drawn by Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg, Jill Thompson, Shawn McManus, Marc Hempel and Michael Zulli and more, with covers by Dave McKean. Did we need the multiple fleeting, florid references to the brutalization of queer, underage, male sex workers? The series also shines in adaptations of And that flaw is nowhere more conspicuous than in its word-for-word reproductions of Take the character of Judy, a doomed lesbian woman on the outs with her girlfriend, who appears in one issue only. I was hooked for about a third of the way in; total page-turner, suspenseful writing. I did finish the book, and liked the premise very much. I wasn't bothered by the short chapters, but by the true lack of character development. I couldn't put it down.I must say this book was terrific.
Their villains are dark and extremely skilled at what they do, leaving few clues and requiring the innovative skills and approaches of their somewhat quirky adversaries partnered with their talented casts of supporting characters. In the end, it simply didn’t live up to my expectations.
